Simple and bold, Patriot sets a very forthright table. Handles flow from a very narrow neck to rounded tab ends, and are emphasized by a raised, central rib. The knife is especially dramatic, with its pronounced shoulder and long curved blade that widens into a rounded butter-knife-style end instead of tapering to the more usual point. This is a knife that holds its own with oversized dinner plates. Made of mirror-polished 18/10 stainless-steel, the moderately priced flatware is nicely balanced and exhibits a medium-weight heft.
The four place settings in this 20-piece starter each consist of a 9-3/4-inch dinner knife, 8-1/2-inch dinner fork, 7-1/4-inch salad fork, 8-1/4-inch soup spoon, and 6-1/4-inch teaspoon. Both spoons feature an oval bowl for a more contemporary look. Serving utensils in a hostess set are available separately to fully coordinate a table. All Patriot flatware is dishwasher-safe, although soaking in water and prolonged exposure to acidic foods should be avoided to prevent spotting.
